(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The British Medical Journal published data on 9,000 cancers cases of mouth, oesophagus, larynx and pharynx, colorectal, breast, which were caused by drinking alcohol every year.
When alcohol is broken down in the body, a DNA-damaging chemical will be produced. It is proven that even moderate drinking increases the risk of having cancer.
Cancer Research said that many British people are not aware of the high risk of having cancer and its link with drinking alcohol.
"Along with being a non-smoker and keeping a healthy bodyweight, cutting back on alcohol is one of the most important ways of lowering your cancer risk," Sara Hiom, the director of health information for the organisation, said.
Meanwhile, Alcohol Concern has published data on alcohol-related hospital admissions in February 2011. It showed how admission would reach to 1.5 million per annum if people do not rethink on their alcohol consumption.
